Chinese dairy giant debuts a refreshing beverage that uses “invisible protein”

Puritime Protein Water

The dairy giant Yili, out of China, has a number of different brands and products available, many of which don’t look like the other, allowing them all to stand by themselves on shelves and in coolers in retailers and supermarkets. Puritime is one of those self-made brands, and it has recently started hitting stockists across the country with an all-new light and refreshing beverage that comes with a moderate hit of muscle-building protein.

Puritime Protein Water is a compact 300ml drink, putting it just as close to a 100ml shot as a half-liter can. As you could probably guess by the name, the innovation is a bottle of water infused with protein at 9g, all of which is from high-quality whey isolate. The company uses a very specific ingredient and technology to ensure the water looks completely clear with the protein inside, resulting in what Yili and Puritime call “invisible protein”.

Alongside the moderate 9g of complete protein, Puritime Protein Water has no added sugar, zero fat, and a calorie count of 100, so there is a fair amount of carbohydrates as of that 100 calories, only 36 is from protein. That comes from the brand’s use of actual fruit juice, specifically lemon juice, in the beverage’s first flavor, Lemon.
