Real Food Rice swaps in rice bran and tapioca maltodextrin

Quite a few months ago back in July word got out that Rich Piana’s 5% Nutrition was working on an alternate version of its hit carbohydrate formula Real Food. The supplement was being referred to as Real Food Rice, a product that just as the brand promised, has finally arrived. Real Food rice is actually not as simple as we suspected, as 5% has done more to the formula than just add or swap in rice as a crb source.

Real Food Rice has essentially dropped all of the original’s carbohydrates except for oats, which is now dosed 2g lower per serving at 5g. The other three sources — pounded yam, sweet potato, and blueberry fruit powder — have been replaced by two branded ingredients with 6g of TapiOK tapioca and as per its title, 23g of RiBran 300 rice bran. The new combination does also give Real Food Rice a different set of macros listing the same 20g of carbs, although twice as much sugar, three times as much fiber, 4g of protein instead of 1g, and 20% more calories.

As mentioned 5% Nutrition’s new Real Food Rice has officially arrived this week, with the supplement now available at rich-piana.com. The product has been priced quite a bit cheaper than the original at $33.95, still packing the same amount of servings with a total of 60. Although unlike Real Food, at the moment fans can only purchase Real Food Rice in the one flavor with Cocoa Heaven.
