Dual-texture high-protein brookie puts Redcon1 back in the functional space

Redcon1 Mre Brookie

It’s been a while since Redcon1 put together something completely new for the world of functional foods, although it’s no stranger to the space thanks to its original hit snack, the MRE Bar. Here in the first half of 2023, the two-time Brand Of The Year is introducing not one but two functional products that once again carry the MRE name in the MRE Muffin and the MRE Brookie, with this post going over the latter of the two.

The MRE Brookie is indeed a brookie, which traditionally is a hybrid treat blending together a decadent brownie base and a sweet crumbly cookie layer across the top. Redcon1 has turned that two-part baked good into a better-for-you functional food made with whole food ingredients like the original MRE meal replacement supplement. It appears to indeed recreate the two-texture experience with much less sugar and significantly more protein than an ordinary brookie.

Redcon1 Mre Brookie

The nutrition profile of a single MRE Brookie is similar to the MRE Muffin with 15g of protein a piece, 26 to 27g of carbohydrates, 9 to 10g of that is sugar, 4 to 5g added sugar, 8g of fat, and a calorie count of 240. Not only does the MRE Brookie keep with the MRE theme of relying on whole food ingredients, but it also doesn’t have any whey in the recipe, with the protein coming from a blend of collagen, pea, beef, and rice protein.

The MRE Brookie has been listed on Redcon1’s online store alongside the MRE Muffin, although there is currently no stock of either of the baking-inspired treats. Both high-protein functional foods have two tastes to choose from, and in the case of the intriguing MRE Brookie, those options are Chocolate Chip Fudge with rich chocolate chips scattered throughout the square snack and Birthday Cake filled with colorful sprinkles.
