Muscle Sport is known for its tasty protein powder, Lean Whey, providing a lean nutrition profile backed by whey, but it is the various flavors it has to choose from that really set it apart. The brand is constantly coming out with creative experiences for its star supplement, and while many of them are limited launches, it occasionally brings them back for another run. Muscle Sport is about to get into the functional food space by way of a high-protein snack that looks to continue its great-tasting reputation.
The Protein Whoopie is the first-ever edible item from Muscle Sport, and it is based on the classic whoopie pie format where you get two soft and smooth oat-based cookies on either side of a sweet, creamy filling. The brand has three different flavors for the upcoming product, each of them sounding as tasty as the next, except for the standout blue one. The flavors are Oatmeal Chocolate Chip with real chocolate chips, the chocolate-heavy Protella, and the rainbow candy-covered Monster Cookie.
Each flavor has the same 20g of protein per piece from a blend of collagen and the two common whey sources, concentrate and isolate. The carbohydrates are quite a bit higher than that at 35 to 38g, with 7 to 12g of that sugar, 12 to 13g of fat, and the calories falling into the 300s at 340. The macros are on the high side, making this more of a better-for-you treat or gourmet protein food, but we imagine that nutrition comes with an undeniably enjoyable taste and texture beyond your typical protein bar.
It’s both surprising and not surprising that Muscle Sport is entering the functional space in a format that only a few have tackled, and only some have managed to do well. The style of the snack gives the brand an opportunity to stand out and be different from the rest of the pack, even when the space is as crowded as it is. The promising Protein Whoopie is due to hit the market shortly, and we’re extremely excited to experience it, knowing that it comes from Muscle Sport and that it looks as delicious as it does.
