Legion takes on the protein cereal space with a clean crunchy competitor

Legion Protein Cereal

In a surprise move, the popular brand Legion has entered the protein cereal space, a category of the functional food realm that very few sports nutrition companies have ventured into. There are a few strong players in protein-packed breakfast cereal, and now Legion is looking to take a bite out of that with its simply named Legion Protein Cereal. It is a classic puff-piece offering, packed with plenty of protein and reasonable net carbohydrates and calories.

Legion squeezes 17g of protein into every serving of its all-new Protein Cereal, and it comes from a quality source in milk concentrate. The carbohydrates come in at 15g in a serving of 40g, 6g of that sugar and 8g overall of net carbs, 6 to 7g of fat, and under 200 calories at 170. Those numbers are more than fair and align with the competition, including the dominant player in the space, Magic Spoon, which provides around 13g of protein and 140 calories.

Legion Protein Cereal brings that extra protein you’d expect from an experienced supplement company, all while keeping the other macros nice and light, using only natural flavors and sweeteners, grain-free, gluten-free, and the product is proudly third-party tested. The major remaining question is, how does the cereal taste? This has been the most challenging part for newcomers to the growing category, and one we’ll have to find out for ourselves.

On paper, Legion ticks all of the boxes with Protein Cereal, plus it has launched in three traditional breakfast cereal flavors with Cinnamon Crunch, Fruity Crunch, and Chocolate Crunch. The regular price of the functional food is $39.99 for a set of three 240g boxes, including a variety bundle with one of each. To celebrate the launch, there is also a buy one, get one half price sale, dropping Legion Protein Cereal to a very reasonable $9.99 a pack.
