Candy giant Fazer turns another flavor of its classic Dumle candy into a protein bar

Fazer Dumle Liquorice Protein Bar

Fazer is a mainstream food and candy company in Europe, originating from Finland, and it recently decided to take a page out of Mars’ book and its Protein By Mars line of functional products. The giant has turned three of its classic treats into protein bars, again, similar to what Mars has done over the last few years with the likes of Mars, Snickers, and Bounty. Fazer has taken its original candies, Patkis and Dumle, and made them into protein-packed bars.

The delicious-sounding and looking Patkis Protein Bar and Dumle Protein Bar look to replicate the taste and texture of the original, sugar-filled treats. Fazer’s Patkis is a decadent mint chocolate truffle, while Dumle is a soft and rich chocolate toffee, which has been on the market and a favorite in Europe since the 80s.

Fazer has quite a few protein bars on the market now, with the Patkis Protein Bar, and three flavors of the Dumle Protein Bar in Original, Mint, and the one that’s just hit the market, Liquorice. They all have similar builds and breakdown of layers, and their macros are around the same as well. A single piece provides 14g of protein, an almost equal amount of carbohydrates at 13g, less than 2g of sugar, around 8g of fat, and reasonable calories sitting under 200 at about 174.

As mentioned, Fazer has only just started rolling out the Liquorice flavor of its Dumle Protein Bar, and while that may be an obscure flavor for most parts of the world, in Finland and other Scandinavian countries, liquorice is immensely popular. The Liquorice Dumle Protein Bar is out now in stores alongside Original and Mint, as well as Patkis, and we have to imagine Fazer has many other authentic protein versions on the way, judging by how quickly it’s grown this list.
