Star Nutrition may be a house brand from the retail group that includes Sweden’s powerhouse Gymgrossisten, but it teases, reveals, and releases faster than most others in the industry. It was just a few weeks ago that we shared the brand’s blend of lemon and elderflower for a new flavor of its clear protein powder. This time around, we’ve got something completely different from Star Nutrition with the introduction of Ultimate PWO.
The house brand has made a premixed, ready-to-drink pre-workout simply named Ultimate PWO. This is a spin-off of the already available and identically named Ultimate PWO, although again, the difference with the item in the spotlight today is that it’s a beverage. The formula is not the same either with Star Nutrition not carrying over betaine or carnitine for the spin-off, nor the respectable dosages of the ingredients it has held on to.
Star Nutrition’s Ultimate PWO Drink comes with just 2.5g of pure citrulline, versus the 4g in the bulk powder, two-thirds of performance-supporting beta-alanine at 2g a serving, B vitamins, and finally 33% less caffeine at 200mg. The Ultimate PWO drink is more convenient, but that’s at the cost of a less balanced formula and respectable dosages.
