MuscleTech responds to a concerning lab report from an unapproved Malaysian distributor

Muscletech Responds To Muscle Mania Lab Report

Back in June, you may have seen a video circulating on social media from the supplement retailer Muscle Mania Club in Malaysia that made an extremely concerning claim about MuscleTech’s signature Nitro-Tech Whey Protein. According to a lab test they ran, Nitro-Tech returned 19.9g of protein in its usual 46g serving, well below the 30g it claims on the bottle, as well as no sugar, close to 22g of carbohydrates, and half a gram of fat.

This obviously caused concern for MuscleTech, which, like many other big names in the sports nutrition industry, strives to ensure everything that’s on the label is in the supplement. The team went ahead and did its own tests using the internationally reputable Eurofins on units from official resellers, which Muscle Mania is not. They found the products were right on the money, and you can read through one of the full lab results directly below.

The Eurofins test lists 36.7g of protein, well above the claimed 30g, but that is because testing methods like this count added amino acids as protein, which MuscleTech outlines on the label in a small amount of added BCAAs and 3g of creatine monohydrate. That puts it right around the 30g it claims, compared to the one below from Muscle Mania Club saying there is notably less protein and actually more carbohydrates at 21.9g per serving.

It’s quite an interesting lab result from Muscle Mania, which used a local company called Chemlab. It is missing or removed details like date recieved, date analyzed, and date reported, and again, the serving size is off, it doesn’t list a company name, and even for 43g of protein in 100g, there is absolutely no sugar and only a gram of fat.

Muscle Mania Chemlab Results

Iovate Health Sciences, the parent company behind MuscleTech, has obviously denied the claims by Muscle Mania Club and the testing facility Chemlab. “The allegations made by Muscle Mania that the Iovate MuscleTech® Nitro-Tech® Whey Protein product does not meet the label claim pertaining to protein content is false and unfounded.” To add to the situation, MuscleTech reached out to Chemlab to verify the test, and it declined.
