Nestle bumps up the protein a couple of grams for its Lion Protein Cereal

Lion Protein Cereal

Lion is an iconic candy bar from the food giant Nestle, home to many other well-known treats like Milkybar, Baby Ruth, Kit Kat, Butterfinger, and the bubbly Aero. The original Lion Candy Bar features a decadent mix of milk chocolate and caramel infused with crunchy wafer layers, gooey filling, and crispy pieces. It’s a memorable snack that has spawned several spin-offs, including a cereal that has just found its way into our industry.

There has been a breakfast cereal from Nestle based around the reputation and taste of its legendary Lion Candy Bar for quite some time, including a few different versions, too, like Lion Triple Crunchy and Wild Crush. Over in France, there is now also a Lion Protein Cereal, infusing a bit of extra protein per serving, where the regular Chocolate and Caramel Lion Cereal has 2.4g in a 30g serving, versus Lion Protein Cereal’s 4.5g in 30g.

It is most definitely not a huge difference in protein in Lion Protein Cereal at a bit less than double, but it is a start for such a mainstream level brand and format. The carbohydrates and sugar come down a bit as well, which is to be expected as there is a higher protein percentage, with the carbs at 20g in a 30g serving and 6.9g of that sugar. The innovation is available in France in a moderate 340g box, the smallest of the Lion cereals.
