Mountain Joe’s launches a 66% larger flapjack with the same protein and more carbs

Mountain Joes Mega Flapjack

The long-running functional food innovator Mountain Joe’s, which made its name with a genuine protein rocky road that had all of the taste and texture to match the traditional treat. That product is no longer available, but the brand is still heavily into protein snacks and treats, including the launch of Protein Flapjack a couple of years ago. That food has 15g of protein per piece, almost double that in carbohydrates, a good amount of that sugar, and around 250 calories.

For fans of Mountain Joe’s that didn’t find Protein Flapjack to be nutritionally enough, it has introduced Mega Flapjack, which is much heavier than the original, 66% heavier, tipping the scales at a huge 100g. Most interestingly, the protein hasn’t been scaled up with the size; it remains at 15g in Mega Flapjack. The other macros; however, have been drastically juiced up to 45 to 47g of carbohydrates from oats, just under half of that sugar, 24g of fat, and a calorie range from 450 to 455.

The Mega Flapjack from Mountain Joe’s is basically the same as the original Protein Flapjack in terms of being a wholesome, nutritious, ready-to-eat food, although it’s pushed up the balance of oats to soy and whey, keeping the protein the same and scaling up the carbohydrates. It has debuted in four flavors, all different from Protein Flapjack in Chocolate Chip Cookie, Cookies & Cream, Cherry Bakewell, and Chocolate Peanut Butter. You can get them singularly or in boxes directly from Mountain Joe’s online store at £1.99 (2.68 USD) each and £19.99 (26.92 USD) for a box of 12.
