Discount membership retailer Costco made a massive amount of noise a few weeks ago when it launched its own protein powder under its house brand Kirkland Signature with the simply named Kirkland Whey Protein. The formula inside is more than respectable, with 25g of protein per serving from a blend of whey isolate and concentrate, isolate being the primary source, alongside 1.5g of fat, 4g of carbohydrates, just a gram of sugar, and a lean 130 calories.
The standout of Costco and Kirkland Signature’s Whey Protein is about the same as all of the other products available at the retailer: the price. In stores, the supplement is an incredibly impressive $47.99 for a 5.4lb bag of a huge 70 servings in the one classic Chocolate flavor, a value that tops everything else we know of with a similar formula. Kirkland Whey Protein was available first through Costco’s many different stores and has now finally made it online.
After plenty of exclusivity in Costco’s locations all across the country, Whey Protein from Kirkland Signature is now available over at costco.com, although there is somewhat of a catch. If you’d prefer to shop online instead of venturing into a store near you, it will cost extra. Again, Kirkland Whey Protein can be purchased at $47.99 for a 5.4lb bag when grabbed straight from the shelf, whereas costco.com is about 14% more expensive at $54.99.
