Convenient’s 100g bar XL40 makes 40g of protein relatively easy to eat

Xl40 Protein Bar Review

The XL40 Protein Bar is a recently released protein snack from a company called Convenient Nutrition, and the big catch and feature with the product is that it’s one of North America’s highest protein bars. As per the title of the functional innovation, it comes with a huge 40g of protein, beyond most other competitors; in fact, it’s double your standard 20g. The nutrition is more than fair, too, with the carbohydrates and fat staying low enough to keep the calories under 400.

The lingering question we had about Convenient Nutrition’s functional debut, the XL40 Protein Bar, is how does it taste? While the macros are good on paper at 40g of protein to 380 calories, which is 20g of protein to 190, we wanted to find out first-hand what the eating experience is like. The brand kindly sent us out a bunch, and we have to say, despite the thickness and hefty 100g weight, XL40 is surprisingly easy to bite through and eat like your typical bar.

Xl40 Protein Bar Review 1

Convenient Nutrition’s XL40 Protein Bar is thick, don’t get us wrong, but it is not tough to bite through or anything like that. Your teeth slowly sink through, top to bottom, and there is a bit of a chew, although we’ve had significantly chewier protein snacks that have even less reason to be so. You do miss out on taste with this one as the milk chocolate is moderately rich and the main body loses any sort of flavor in the chewing, so no intense hits of sweetness like some others out there.

The thing about the XL40 Protein Bar is that it’s about what you’d expect, where you get a super high amount of protein that doesn’t skew the overall balance of calories and that does seem to take away or leave less room for a candy bar like taste. It’s more function than form, nutrition over taste; however, at the same time, it is better than we thought it could be. The name of the brand is fitting here as it’s done a great job at making an edible 40g of protein convenient.
