Capri-Sun tries its hand at a hydration drink and packs it with 80mg of electrolytes

Capri-Sun Hydrate

Many mainstream brands have jumped on the protein bandwagon, where they’re taking their familiar foods and popular products, and infusing them with the muscle-building macronutrient. There are still many major names that are going the functional route, expanding their range and reach by way of added active ingredients. It’s not as popular as the proteinification trend, but enough for the global giant Capri-Sun to have a run at it in its latest innovation.

The juice concentrate drink specialist has introduced Capri-Sun Hydrate, which indeed combines the fruity experience it is most known for with the functionality of electrolytes to support hydration. The product still has some sugar, although not a huge amount compared to the size of its 6oz pouch. There are 5g of carbohydrates, all added sugar, in Capri-Sun Hydrate, then alongside that are an extremely light 50mg of potassium and 30mg of sodium for hydration.

While Capri-Sun hasn’t packed a large amount of electrolytes into Capri-Sun Hydrate, in fact, it’s the lightest we’ve seen at Stack3d for as long as we can remember; it gave the functional hydration thing a shot. We wouldn’t recommend trading in your performance-built electrolyte supplement or sports drink for Capri-Sun Hydrate, but if you’re going to grab a pouch anyway. The newest product from the brand clearly has a bit more to offer, and nutritionally it’s better too, as its 5g of sugar works out to be 73% lower than Capri-Sun Juice.
