PLEZi Nutrition, co-founded by Michelle Obama, emerged from her long-standing commitment to improving family nutrition. It is a beverage brand that aims to drive positive change in the industry and market by setting higher standards and offering better-for-you solutions. PLEZI’s initial focus was on the prevalent issue of high amounts of added sugar, resulting in two beverage innovations with PLEZi Fizz soda and the original PLEZi juice box with low sugar, fiber, and vitamin c.
The latest innovation from the growing PLEZi Nutrition, which is rolling out to market this month, comes in the form of a sports drink developed in collaboration with NBA star Stephen Curry. The product is PLEZi Hydration, designed to support hydration, performance, and recovery. It continues that goal of low added sugar and being a better-for-you solution with its three flavors: Lemon Lime, Tropical Punch, and Orange Mango Twist, having no added sugar but some sugar from various juices.
PLEZi Nutrition’s all-new PLEZi Hydration does have some carbohydrates and sugar at 15g of the former in a 16.9oz bottle, most of that sugar at 12g, and again, that’s coming from the variety of fruit juices the beverage is made with. On the functional side of the innovation, there are plenty of electrolyte sources providing 120mg of sodium and half a gram of potassium, and like the brand’s other drinks, PLEZi juice box and PLEZi soda, hydration has a daily dose of the antioxidant vitamin c.
You can order the third drink from PLEZi Nutrition and Stephen Curry starting this week straight from Amazon, where PLEZi Hydration carries a regular cost of $23.99 for a case of 12 bottles, regardless of which of three flavors you snatch up. While you can place an order for the hydration beverage, it’ll be a few weeks before it ships out, around mid April, but if you do get in early, there is a sizeable 30% coupon that can be applied to bring the cost down a fair amount to $16.79, $1.39 each.
